  • The Bobcats came right back to halve the deficit in the 3rd. Starting pitcher Reid Tarnowski hit the leadoff batter, and after a steal, strikeout and fly out, allowed a single through the left side to bring in the run.
  • In the bottom half, the Panthers were able to score to push the lead back to two. Sam Dreistadt hit a high double to left field. He took third on a flyout to left and scored when Matt Hair grounded out to second.
  • Tarnowski was cruising until he ran into trouble in the 6th. He allowed a leadoff single and a double down the line around a flyout. He then gave up a single through the right side which brought in two runs to tie the game. Tarnowski was chased in the 7th, after allowing another leadoff hit.
  • Kyler Majka replaced Tarnowski and quickly got two outs on the ground, which saw the runner move to third. With two outs, Majka was nearly out of trouble but allowed a double down the line which put the bobcats up one. They tacked on a second run after two walks and a single but saw a third runner cut down at the plate to end the inning.
  • Needing two runs to extend the game, Kevin Rehak beat out an infield single with one out, and took second as the throw got away on the play. Rehak scored two batters later when Nico Hall laced a single to left.
  • Sam Dreistadt continued the rally with a single to center, and Jake McNabb drew a walk to load the bases with two down. On the first pitch to the next batter, Hair, Hall was able to scamper home on a wild pitch to tie the game at 5. Hair later flew out to end the inning and send the game into extra innings.

Game 2:

  • The Bobcats were the team that grabbed the early momentum in the second game of the day, scoring 2 runs on 4 hits in the first inning. Starting pitcher Alex Miles did see the bases loaded in the frame, but got a pop-up and a grounder to escape further damage.
  • The Panthers were able to get a run back in the bottom of the third, using a two-out rally to score. Nick Stein lined a single the other way into left field, and then took second on a wild pitch. Nico Hall came up next and ripped a single into left to bring Stein around and cut the lead to 1.
  • The Panthers threatened to erase the lead in the 4th. McNabb led off with a double to the gap in left-center and then moved to third when Matt LaBadie pulled a single through the left side. With one out, Matt Hair lifted a flyball to center, but an excellent throw saw McNabb tagged out at the plate to end the inning.
  • The Bobcats used the momentum from the defensive play to add to their lead in the 5th. Ben Green, who threw out McNabb, led off with a single and a steal. He moved to third on a fly ball to center and then scored on an RBI groundout. With two down, the Bobcats hit a triple to the right-center gap and a single to put them up 4-1.
  • Alex Fetter came in to replace Miles after an error in the field. Fetter got the first batter he faced to strike out on a pitch in the dirt, but it got away from Evan Fragela, allowing the inning to continue. Fetter settled down and got the next batter to pop up in foul territory to end the inning.
  • Fetter allowed a single in the 6th but quickly saw it erased with a double play. He also gave up a one-out walk in the 7th but put up a zero to keep the Panthers down 3 heading to their final at-bat.
  • Evan Fragela started the 7th with a single through the left side of the infield. Matt LaBadie drew a walk, and then both runners moved up a base on a wild pitch.
  • With still no outs recorded in the inning, Matt Hair hit a high chopper that went over the third baseman's head and down the left-field line. This scored both runners and put the Panthers down only one run.
  • Hair was lifted for a pinch-runner, Jayson Hayes, whose speed came in handy on the next play. Tyler aires lined a single into center and saw his hit misplayed in the outfield. It hopped over the centerfielder's glove and rolled towards the fence. Hayes motored around the bases to score on the play and tie the game at 4. Aires took second base as well.
  • After a pop-up saw the bobcats retire Rehak, Nick Stein was intentionally walked to set up a force play. Nico Hall was then hit by a pitch to load the bases with only one out.
  • Dreistadt put an end to the game early in his at-bat, lining a pitch into right-center to bring home Aires and end the game.
  • Fetter (1-3) picked up the win after 2 and 1/3 innings of scoreless work in relief. He struck out 4 batters.

  • Nico Hall finished the game 2 for 3, with a double and one run batted in.
  • Matt Hair went 1 for 2 with 2 RBIs.
  • The Panthers truly had a balanced attack in the game, as every player in the starting line up picked up at least one hit. Hall was the only Panther with more than one.
