University of Pittsburgh at Bradford Athletic Training
Goals and Philosophy
The goal of the Athletic Training Department at the University of Pittsburgh at Bradford is to provide high-quality comprehensive sports medicine care for all sports-related injuries and illnesses. We are committed to the health and well-being of the student-athletes, and this commitment is achieved by consistently seeking the best way to deliver quality, comprehensive health care to each student-athlete.
The Athletic Training staff is comprised of two full-time certified athletic trainers, who work together to coordinate and deliver professional and comprehensive evaluation techniques, preventative treatment, rehabilitation, and management of athletic injuries to all UPB student-athletes. Both certified athletic trainers possess master's degrees, are nationally board certified, and are state-licensed and regulated allied health care workers who practice the arts of athletic training at the highest professional standards.
The University of Pittsburgh at Bradford has an affiliation agreement with both Bradford Family Medicine and Bradford Orthopedics. Our team physician is Dr. Jill Owens at Bradford Family Medicine. The team of Bradford Orthopedics is headed by Dr. Shabir Bhayani, who is our primary team orthopedic.
Mental Health Care concerns will be referred to Pitt Bradford Counseling Services. Counseling Services offers a range of services to help you get the support you are seeking, feel less alone, cope more effectively, heal emotional wounds, improve relationships, engage in your academics, athletic and college life, and feel more like yourself. Most students take advantage of a combination of these resources, and a Therapist is happy to help you figure out the plan that feels right to you.
