Panther Baseball to Host Bobcats on Senior Day

The University of Pittsburgh at Bradford Baseball team will look to celebrate 4 seniors, as they host Pitt-Greensburg in an AMCC doubleheader on Saturday.

The Panthers enter the contest with a 4-10 record overall and a 2-8 record in AMCC play. In their last action, they were able to erase a 3 run deficit to earn a split in a non-conference doubleheader with Penn State Behrend. They lost the first game 6-3, but were able to hold on in the nightcap to get a 9-8 victory. Sam Dreistadt posted a 4-hit game in the win.

Dreistadt is the offensive leader for the Panthers, posting a .449 batting average, which is the 5th best in the AMCC. He also has hit 2 home runs, driven in 14 runs, and scored 8 more. Fellow senior Matt LaBadie leads the team in home runs with 3 and is hitting .333.

Alex Miles has been the strongest performer on the hill for the Panthers so far this season. In 4 appearances and 2 starts, Miles is 1-0 with a 1.77 ERA. It is the 4th best in the conference. Kyler Majka leads the Panthers with 2 wins and Alex Fetter and Reid Tarnowski have each struck out 20 batters. 

The Bobcats enter the doubleheader with a 2-16 overall record and are 1-7 in AMCC play. They are coming off a sweep to LaRoche, and are currently on a 5 game losing streak.

Randy Hibbard leads the Bobcats with a .423 batting average. he has hit 1 home run and driven in 12 runs. Jace Cappellini is Pitt-Greensburg's leading run producer, bringing home 17 runs. Brody Bonadio has scored 18 runs for the team and leads them in stolen bases with 5.

Tony Iannuzzo is the Bobcats leader in innings pitched, logging 32.1. He is 1-3 with an 11.13 ERA. Mikey Sullivan has pitched 19 innings and is 1-4 with an 11.90 ERA. 

Prior to the game, the Panthers will recognize their 4 graduating seniors and their families. The Players who will be honored in the ceremony are Sam Dreistadt, Matt Hair, Matt LaBadie, and Wyatt Rugar.

First pitch for game 1 has been moved up in an attempt to beat impending rain later in the day. It is scheduled for 12:00 p.m at Kessel Baseball Field. The second game is scheduled to start shortly after the completion of the first. Rules and regulations for spectators attending the games are below. 

  • New seating areas have been roped off to separate spectators from players, coaches, and game management staff. This area includes both dugouts, the bleachers, press box, and batting cages. Spectators will be able to view the game while remaining physically distanced along the hill behind the backstop. 
  • All spectators must wear masks while on the Kessel Athletic Complex.
  • The restrooms at the softball field will not be available for spectator use. Spectators requiring bathroom facilities have access to the bathrooms behind the Facilities Management building next to the Tennis Courts and Soccer Fields. These restrooms are sanitized and disinfected in accordance with Pitt-Bradford campus policies.
  • There will be no concessions at the event.
  • Spectators, athletes, and coaches are prohibited from chewing and spitting sunflower seeds and smokeless tobacco products within the complex.
