Panthers Bring 2024-25 Campaign to a Close at SUNYAC-AMCC Championships, Finish 9th

Buffalo, N.Y. -- The University of Pittsburgh at Bradford women's swimming team saw their 2024-25 season draw to a close on Saturday with the final day of competition at the SUNYAC-AMCC Championships. The Panthers finished the event in 9th place after having 2 swimmers qualify for finals and fielding one final relay team.

Skyler Bland reached the finals in her 3rd event of the championship meet, qualifying in the 200-yard backstroke on Saturday. In the preliminary round, she finished 9th, one spot out of the championship heat, with a time of 2:21.72. In the finals, she cut nearly 4 seconds off her time to maintain her position of 9th place. She won the second heat of the event with a time of 2:17.96.

Senior Bailey Fedak brought her career to a close on a high point, qualifying for the 100-yard freestyle finals in 15th place. She swam her preliminary race in 57.40 seconds, missing out of the top heat by just under one second. In the finals, she swam the race in 56.39 seconds, moving up 4 spaces to 12th place.

Pitt-Bradford fielded one final relay to close the event, putting a team in the 400-yard freestyle relay. The team of Fedak, Bland, Carly Evers, and Emma Slocum finished 8th of 18 teams with a time of 3:56.80.

In the preliminary session, Emma Slocum competed in the long-distance 1650-yard freestyle to determine final placements between 9th and 26th. She posted a time of 21:22.51 to finish in 20th place. Additionally, two Panthers competed in the 100-yard freestyle but did not qualify for finals. Carly Evers finished in 24th with a time of 59.54 seconds. she was 1.61 seconds from earning a spot in the finals. Brooklyn Bellavia finished 36th with a time of 1:15.77.

The Panthers end their season with a 9th place overall finish at the championship meet. They were 4th among AMCC teams.
