Rochester, N.Y. -- The University of Pittsburgh at Bradford women's swimming team returned to action for the first time in 2025 with a dual meet at Roberts Wesleyan, the Panthers were able to win two individual events and one relay as they lost to the Redhawks 182-59.
Freshman Carly Evers collected the highest point total of the day for the Panthers, as she won one event and took 2nd in another. She began with a victory in the 50-yard backstroke. She finished the race in 32.20 seconds, beating the field by 1.02 seconds. She followed that up with a runner-up finish in the 50-yard freestyle. She finished in 28.41 seconds.
Bailey Fedak was the other Panther to win an individual event. She edged Evers in the 50-free winning by 1.71 seconds, finishing with a time of 26.70 seconds. Fedak also took 3rd in the 500-yard freestyle. Her final time was 6:09.39.
Skyler Bland picked up a pair of 2nd-place finishes in the meet. In the 100-yard freestyle, she finished in 1:01.75, just over 2 seconds behind the winner. She followed that up as the runner-up in the multidisciplinary 200-yard individual medley. She completed the race in 2:32.29.
The Panthers finished the event on a high note, winning the 200-yard freestyle relay. The team of Evers, Emma Slocum, Bland, and Fedak won with a time of 1:53.03, 4.77 seconds ahead of their opponents. Evers started the race with a 28.07-second split. She was followed by Slocum and Bland, who finished their legs in 30.71 and 27.79 seconds respectively. Fedak had a strong anchor leg, posting a 26.46-second split.
The Panthers will be back in action on February 1st when they travel to Penn State-Altoona for a final tune-up before the SUNYAC-AMCC Championships.
