Panthers Fall to Saxons on Senior Day

Bradford, Pa. -- The University of Pittsburgh at Bradford women's swimming team hosted the Alfred Saxons on Saturday in the Duke Aquatic Center. Hosting their last home meet of the season, the Panthers celebrated Senior Day as they lost to Alfred 137-38.

In the first intermission, the Panthers recognized their lone senior, Bailey Fedak. Fedak has been a team member for four seasons, competing in freestyle and butterfly events. Today she picked up a runner-up and 3rd place finish as an individual and swam in the medley relay. She was barely out-touched at the wall in the 200-yard freestyle, taking second just 0.11 seconds behind the winner. Her time was 2:14.56. She also took 3rd in the 500-yard freestyle, finishing with a time of 6:14.55. 

Pitt-Bradford also had a pair of swimmers win individual races.

Skyler Bland had a strong showing in the multi-disciplinary 200-yard individual medley. She won her race by just under two seconds, posting a winning time of 2:27.47. Bland also took 2nd in the 100-yard backstroke. She finished 1.78 seconds off the pace with a time of 1:08.06.

Carly Evers picked up the final Pitt-Bradford victory, winning the 100-yard freestyle. She finished with a time of 1:03.13, 0.76 seconds ahead of the runner-up. Evers was also the Panthers' best finisher in the 50-yard freestyle. She swam the sprint in 28.00 seconds, finishing 4th. 

Brookelyn Bellavia took 4th in the 100-yard breaststroke, and 5th in the 50-yard freestyle. 

The Panthers are now 0-5 in dual meets this season. The Panthers will return to action on Thursday when they begin the Fredonia Invitational.
