Alfred, N.Y. -- The University of Pittsburgh at Bradford women's swimming team competed in a tri-meet on Saturday afternoon against AMCC foes Alfred State and Penn State-Altoona. The Panthers lost both matches, falling to the host Pioneers 176-32 and to the Lions 195-24.
Skyler Bland picked up the most points for the Panthers, finishing with a 2nd, 3rd, and 6th place finish on the day. Her best race was the 400-yard IM, where she was the runner-up. Bland swam the multiple-stroke race in 5:19.43 seconds. She also had a strong finish in the 100-yard backstroke, where she took 3rd, In a tight race, Bland finished with a time of 1:07.65, less than two seconds off the winner. Finally, she closed her day with a 6th-place finish in the 100-yard freestyle.
Bailey Fedak had one 4th and two 5th place finishes in the event. She was 4th in the 100-free, finishing in 59.97 seconds, and then was 5th in the 200-yard and 50-yard freestyle events.
Emma Slocum was 5th in the 500-yard freestyle, and 7th in the 200 and 50-yard versions.
The Panthers are now 0-4 on the season. They will return to Duke Aquatic Center next weekend when they host Alfred University. The meet is slated to start at noon.
