Panthers Win on Senior Day

Bradford, Pa. -- The University of Pittsburgh at Bradford women's swimming team picked up a dual meet victory over Medaille in their final meet in the Duke Aquatic Center for the season. They defeated the Mavericks by a score of 102-31.

Prior to the action, the Panthers took a moment to celebrate the program's lone senior, Katie Anderton. Anderton, who was a four-year member of the women's soccer team, joined the program this season, swimming in the medley relay, backstroke, and freestyle events.

The Panthers dominated the meet, winning all but one event. Bailey Fedak once again picked up a pair of victories in the 50 and 100-yard freestyle races. She swam the 50 in 27.86 seconds and the 100 in 1:03.51. She also swam the anchor leg of the medley relay in a time of 30.61 seconds.

Adriana Gallas also picked up two event victories and swam in the medley relay. After swimming the breaststroke leg of the medley relay in 1:38.51 seconds, she came back on the final lap of the 200-yard freestyle to win the event with a time of 2:37.13. She finished her day with a 5-second victory in the 100-yard breaststroke, posting a time of 1:32.74.

Anna Killingbeck was the third Panther to win two events and swim in the relay. She finished the butterfly leg of the medley relay in a time of 1:35.01 seconds and then followed that with a victory in the 100-butterfly. She finished the race in 1:35.88, just under two seconds faster than her competitor. She also successfully completed the 500-yard freestyle with a time of 7:42.47.

On her senior day, Anderton took two third-place finishes in the 200-yard freestyle and 100-yard backstroke and swam the backstroke leg of the medley relay. Eve Brink added 19 points for the Panthers as she had two second-place finishes and swam in the freestyle relay.

The Panthers will wrap up their regular season over the weekend in a tri-meet with Buffalo State and SUNY Geneseo.
