Panthers Field Two Relays and 3 Individual Qualifiers on Day Three at SUNYAC-AMCC Championship

Buffalo, N.Y. -- The University of Pittsburgh at Bradford men's swimming team hit the pool for the third day of competition at the inaugural SUNYAC-AMCC Swim Championships on Friday. Three Panthers qualified for individual races, while the team had two submissions in the 400-yard medley relay. Through 27 events, the Panthers remain in 8th place and now have tallied 108 team points.

Conan and Duncan Young both qualified for the finals in the 400-yard individual medley. Conan Young qualified in 2nd place with a preliminary time of 4:16.62. He improved his time by 2.3 seconds in the finals but dropped a spot to 3rd place with a time of 4:14.32. He was still the 2nd best AMCC finisher and earned all-conference honors. Duncan qualified in 10th and posted a preliminary time of 4:32.22. He maintained his place in the finals, finishing 10th with a time of 4:28.11 to earn 7 team points for the Panthers.

Eric Reynolds was the third Panther to make the final rounds today, as he finished 15th in the 100-yard backstroke with a preliminary round time of 1:02.26. During the evening session, Reynolds remained in 15th place after a tightly-contested heat in which all 8 swimmers finished within 3.77 seconds. Reynolds posted a time of 1:02.26.

Pitt-Bradford fielded a pair of relay teams in the session-ending 400-yard medley relay. The top team of Ducan Young, Reynolds, Conan Young, and Giulio Minerbi finished 10th in 3:52.42. Duncan Young started the race with a 1:00.35 split in the backstroke leg and was followed by Reynolds who swam the breaststroke leg in 1:03.10. Conan Young had the fastest split for the Panthers, completing the butterfly in 54.26. Minerbi closed strong with a 54.71-second freestyle leg.

The second team of Camden Tetenov, Greg Tyler, Peyton Haight, and Brennan Schultz took 17th with a finals time of 4:19.08. Tetenov finished the backstroke in 1:06.17 and Tyler completed the breaststroke in 1:13.59. Haight was third in the water, finishing the butterfly leg in 1:03.47, and Schultz closed with a 55.85 in the freestyle.

The Panthers will be back in Buffalo for one more day, as they will wrap up the championship meet with 5 more individual events, and one final relay. Pitt-Bradford swimmers will compete in the 1650-yard freestyle, 200-yard backstroke, 100-yard freestyle, 200-yard breaststroke, and the 400-yard Freestyle relay. Preliminary rounds begin at 10:00 a.m. with the final session starting at 5:30 p.m.
