Panthers Drop Dual Meet at Penn State-Altoona in Final Warmup for SUNYAC-AMCC Championships

Altoona, Pa. -- The University of Pittsburgh at Bradford men's swimming team traveled to Penn State-Altoona for their final tuneup before the SUNYAC-AMCC Swim Championship meet. The Panthers earned two event victories while falling to the Lions 134-56 in the meet.

Conan Young had both wins for the Panthers, finishing first in the 200-yard freestyle and the 100-yard butterfly. Young won the 200 by 7.3 seconds with a time of 1:49.54. Peyton Haight finished 5th in the event and Dawson Mallery took 6th. Young followed that up with a tight victory in the 100-yard butterfly. He finished the race in 57.08 seconds, eking out a win by .12 seconds. 

Duncan Young also had a strong showing, picking up a pair of runner-up finishes. His first was in the 100-yard individual medley, where his time of 1:03.56 was 3.30 seconds off the pace. He also finished 2nd in the 500-yard freestyle, completing the distance race with a time of 5:10.72. Camden Tetenov had the only other individual 2nd place finish for Pitt-Bradford earning a runner-up finish in the 1000-yard freestyle.

Pitt-Bradford also had four swimmers take third place in their events. Nathan Ryan followed Duncan Young in the 100-yard IM, finishing third with a time of 1:04.26. In the 100-yard freestyle, Giulio Minerbi finished in 57.31 seconds, while Haight took third in the 100-yard backstroke, finishing in 1:04.95. Eric Reynolds was the final Panther to earn a third-place position, finishing the 100-yard breaststroke in 1:08.85.

Pitt-Bradford's 200-yard medley relay team of Haight, Reynolds, Ryan, and Greg Tyler finished second of three teams, While the 200-yard freestyle relay was third of three.

Pitt-Bradford finishes their regular season with a 1-6 record in dual meets. They will be back in action for the SUNYAC-AMCC Championship meet beginning on Wednesday, February 19th. The event will last 4 days and will include preliminary and final sessions each day.
