Fredonia, N.Y. -- The University of Pittsburgh at Bradford men's swimming team finished the Fredonia Invitational on Sunday, completing the three-day event in 5th place with 565 points. Conan Young picked up his second recent victory of the Invitational, winning the 1650-yard freestyle.
Seven Panthers earned spots in the final rounds, competing in all 5 individual events of Day 3. The Panthers also fielded one team in the 400-yard freestyle relay.
Conan Young grabbed the headlines once again, winning his signature event, the 1650-yard freestyle. Young swam the mile-long race in 16:48.36 winning the race by just under nine seconds. Peyton Haight also swam in the event, finishing 9th with a time of 19:17.09.
Duncan Young was the only Panther to qualify for the top heat in his event, as he swam in Heat A in the 200-yard backstroke. Duncan finished 7th with a time of 2:10.30.
Eric Reynolds and Nathan Ryan each qualified and swam in Heat B of their respective events. Ryan swam the 200-yard butterfly, finishing 11th. He posted a final time of 2:21.37. Reynolds swam in the 200-yard breaststroke, taking 12th with a time of 2:30.52.
Finally, Camden Tetenov and Dawson Mallery were both able to qualify for the 100-yard freestyle. Tetenov finished 21st in 56.92 seconds, while Mallery was just behind him in 22nd with a fine of 58.66.
To close the invitational, the Panthers had one team compete in the 400-yard freestyle relay. The team of Reynolds, Ryan, Duncan Young, and Conan Young finished in 10th place with a time of 3:34.36.
The Panthers will bring the fall portion of their schedule to a close after the holiday break when they travel to Ohio to compete in the 3-day Wooster Invitational. The event begins with preliminary rounds at 10:00 a.m. on December 5th.
