Bradford, Pa. -- The University of Pittsburgh at Bradford men's swimming team hosted Alfred University on Saturday, falling to the Saxons 154-47. The Panthers also celebrated senior day, honoring graduating team member Aiden Minch-Hick in a presentation during the first intermission.
Minch-Hick has been a member of the program for three seasons, competing in freestyle sprint events and relays for the Panthers. In his final home meet, Minch-Hick swam in the 50-yard freestyle and the 200-yard freestyle relay. He finished 5th in the 50, posting a time of 30.02 seconds. He also swam the 2nd leg in the 300-yard freestyle relay for the Pitt-Bradford team that finished 5th. He posted a 30.36-second split.
Conan Young continued his dominant junior campaign, picking up two more individual victories. He began with a win in the 200-yard freestyle. He won the race by 2.24 seconds, posting a winning time of 1:49.77. He closed with another breakaway victory in the 500-yard freestyle. He finished in 4:53.91, 15.14 seconds ahead of the field.
The Panthers also had two 3rd-place finishes. Duncan Young took 3rd in the 200-yard individual medley, finishing with a time of 2:12.52. He was 1.25 seconds behind the 2nd-place finisher. Peyton Haight earned 3rd place points in the 1000-yard freestyle. He barely missed out on 2nd place, touching the wall 0.44 seconds behind the runner-up.
Pitt-Bradford falls to 1-4 in dual meets this season. They will be back in action this Thursday when they begin the 4-day Fredonia Invitational.
