Conan Young Wins Twice as Panthers are Swept at Tri-Meet

Alfred, N.Y. -- The University of Pittsburgh at Bradford men's swimming team took on Alfred State and Penn State-Altoona in a tri-meet hosted by Alfred State on Saturday. The Panthers lost both matches, falling to the host Pioneers 176-81 and then 182-63 to the Lions.

Conan Young had the standout performance for the Panthers, winning both of his individual races. He started with a nail-biting win in the 200-yard freestyle. He finished the race in 1:49.37, picking up the win by 0.29 seconds. His second victory was not as tight, as he took the 500-yard freestyle by 5.5 seconds. His time was 4:54.51. He also swam in both Panther relays, which finished in 4th.

Duncan Young picked up a pair of 2nd-place finishes, as well as a 4th-place finish. After swimming in the opening medley relay, Young started his individual program with a 4th-place finish in the 100-yard backstroke. He followed that up with runner-up finishes in the 200-yard backstroke and 400-yard individual medley. He swam the backstroke in 2:10.91 and the IM in 4:43.90.

The Young brothers were not the only Panthers to have top-half placements, as Eric Reynolds took 4th in the 100-yard breaststroke and Nathan Ryan was 4th in the 100-yard butterfly and 5th in the 400-yard IM.

The Panthers drop to 1-3 on the season with the losses. They will be back in the pool next week when they host Alfred in their last home meet of the fall semester. The action is slated to begin at noon on Nov. 16th in the Duke Aquatic Center
