Bradford, Pa. -- University of Pittsburgh at Bradford swimmer Sam Wright became the first Panther to be recognized by the AMCC this week as he was named Men's Swimmer of the Week on Monday.

Wright picked up maximum points in the Panthers' season-opening win over Fredonia. He was a part of two winning relay teams and easily won his only individual event. He opened the 200-yard Medley relay with a 28.25-second backstroke leg and then posted a 24.43-second split in the 200-yard freestyle relay. Individually, he won the 100-yard backstroke by 9.09 seconds, finishing with a time of 1:01.10.

This is the first time Wright has been named AMCC Swimmer of the Week in his career.

The Panthers will be back in action on Friday, October 27th, when they travel to Alfred for a dual meet.
