Panthers Drop Tight Matchup with Roberts Wesleyan

Bradford, Pa. -- The University of Pittsburgh at Bradford men's swimming team lost a tight matchup with Roberts Wesleyan on Saturday afternoon, falling to the Redhawks by a score of 121-102.

Pitt-Bradford was once again led by Conan and Duncan Young, who shared 7 wins on the day, with Duncan only finishing 2nd to Conan in the 200-yard butterfly. Conan began his day with a dominating win in the 200-yard freestyle, winning the race by just under 13 seconds, finishing with a time of 1:51.44. He followed this up with a win in the 200-yard butterfly, where he defeated his teammate, Dunan by less than a second. Conan finished in 2:12.52, while Duncan posted a time of 2:13.36. Duncan's first victory came in the 200-yard backstroke he eased to a 14-second win, finishing with a time of 2:09.53. Conan put in his most dominating performance in the 500-yard freestyle. He easily won the race, posting a time of 5:02.31, nearly 20 seconds faster than his opponents. Duncan's second win came in the 200-yard IM, posting a time of 2:13.18 to win by 4.7 seconds. Finally, both Youngs swam in the race winning the 200-yard freestyle relay. Conan swam the second leg of the race, posting a split of 24.33 seconds, while Duncan swam the anchor leg, posting a split of 25.20 seconds. 

Sam Wright picked up the only other win for the Panthers, taking the 100-yard backstroke. Wright finished the race in 59.63 seconds, which was 4.05 seconds faster than his opponents. Wright also had a 2nd place finish in the 50-free, as he swam the race in 25.11 seconds and was out-touched at the wall, finishing .08 seconds behind the winner. Wright closed his day by swimming the lead leg in the 200-yard freestyle relay. he posted the Panthers' second-best split in the race, finishing in 24.01 seconds. Owen Fitzsimmons, Connor Weiss, Matt Gullotti and Aiden Minch-Hick also picked up important points for the Panthers, combining to finish 11 races for 29 additional points. 

Pitt-Bradford is now 3-4-1 on the season. They will return to action on Wednesday, January 18th when they travel to Buffalo State for a tri-meet with the hosts and Wells.
