Panthers Unable to Hold Off Lions

Bradford, Pa. -- The University of Pittsburgh at Bradford men's swimming team hosted Penn State-Behrend in their second meet in three days, falling to the Lions 136-80.

Conan Young was able to pick up two more victories in the long-form dual meet, winning the 200-yard butterfly and the 500-yard freestyle. He took the 200-fly with a time of 2:08.64, besting his opponent by just under 30 seconds. He also ran away with the 500, finishing 40 seconds ahead of his nearest competitor with a time of 5:04.08. He also swam in the 400-yard freestyle relay swimming his leg in 52.07 seconds. 

Duncan Young was not able to come away with a win in the meet but had several good performances. He started the day with a 2nd place finish in the 200-yard freestyle. He finished 6 seconds off the pace with a time of 1:56.80. He followed that up with another second-place finish in the most competitive race of the day. In the 50-yard freestyle, Young finished tied for second with teammate Sam Wright, posting identical times of 24.60 seconds. They were just .26 seconds behind the winner. He had another second-place finish in the 400-yard individual medley, finishing the race in 4:49.77. He finally wrapped up his day by swimming the anchor leg in the 400-yard freestyle relay, finishing with a 55.24 seconds split.

Along with his second-place tie in the 50, Wright also took second in both the 100 and 200-yard backstroke. He swam the 100 in 59.70 seconds, and the 200 in 2:12.40.

The Panthers are now 1-2-1 on the season. They will hit the road for their next contest, traveling to Washington & Jefferson for a dual meet on Saturday, November 19th.
