Men's Swimming Picks Up Split on Opening Day of Season

Erie, Pa. -- The University of Pittsburgh at Bradford men's swimming team began their season on Saturday, finishing the day with a 1-1 record.

The Panthers fell to Penn State-Behrend 161-52, but were able to pick up a 93-66 win over Medaille.

The Panthers' best finish of the day came in the 200-yard freestyle. The Panthers were able to win the event with a time of 1:45.70. Freshman Hunter Deible got the relay started with a 25.88 opening leg, while Owen Fitzsimmons had the best split, finishing the race with a 25.15.

Individually, CJ Faris swam the 200-yard individual medley in 2:43.40 to finish in 2nd, and Connor Weis swam the 100-yard freestyle in 1:06.40, finishing in third. Deible also had a 3rd place finish in the 50-yard freestyle, posting a 25.69 in the event.

Aiden Wright anchored the men's 200-yard medley relay, swimming the freestyle leg in 26.09 seconds.

The Panthers will have two weeks off, as they prepare for their next event. On Saturday, Oct. 30, they will have their first home meet day of the season, as they take on Medaille in the Paul C. Duke III Aquatic Center.
