The Pitt-Bradford men's swimming team finished third at the 2017 AMCC Championships Saturday, and the women's team finished sixth.

The men totaled 393 points, only seven behind runner-up Alfred State, and the women posted a four-day score of 164 points. Penn State Behrend captured both the men's and women's titles.

Four different Panthers registered second-place showings to highlight the final day of action.

In men's results, Carey Behm was second in the 1,650-yard free, Corey Koss took second in the 200-yard back, and Nicholas Boyd finished runner-up in the 100-yard free.

Lucas Cerchiaro finished third in the 200-yard butterfly and set a new school record in the prelims with a time of 1:58.09. Mitchell Smith placed fourth in the 1,650-yard free, and Noah Frederick was fourth in the 200-yard breast.

The 400-yard free relay of Boyd, Behm, Koss and Cerchiaro took second to close out the event for the Panthers.

On the women's side, Elizabeth Prager finished her career by placing second in the 200-yard back, and Jillian Wright finished fourth in the 200-yard breast. Wenjing Miao was seventh in the 200-yard breast.

The 400-yard free relay of Prager, Wright, Rebecca Avery and Miao finished sixth.

The Pitt-Bradford men's swimming team won a pair of titles on day three of the AMCC championships to jump to second place in the standings, and the women's team registered two top-five finishes.

Corey Koss defended his title in the 100-yard back, winning by three-tenths of a second, to earn the Panthers' second individual championship of the week.

The 200-yard medley relay of Koss, Noah Frederick, Lucas Cerchiaro and Nicholas Boyd won in dominating fashion, finishing in a time of 1:38.68.

Cerchiaro placed third in the 100-yard butterfly, Boyd was fifth and Devyn Condon took seventh. Carey Behm finished third in the 200-yard free and Mitchell Smith was six. Frederick finished fourth in the 100-yard breast race.

In women's results, Elizabeth Prager finished runner-up in the 100-yard back, and Jillian Wright took fifth in the 100-yard breast swim.

Wenjing Miao placed eighth in the 100-yard breast, and Rebecca Avery was ninth in the 100-yard butterfly.

With one day left of competition, the men trail only Pen State Behrend with 273 total points, and the women are in sixth with 115 points.

Nicholas Boyd's win the 50-yard free finals capped a productive second day for Pitt-Bradford at the 2017 AMCC Swimming and Diving Championships.

Through 14 events, the Panther men sit in third with 151 points, only six behind Alfred State for second place, and the women are in seventh with 79 points.

Boyd finished first in the 50-yard free by fourth-tenths of a second to capture the men's first individual AMCC championship of the event. Lucas Cerchiaro had the second-best showing of the day for the Panthers, finishing runner-up in the 200-yard individual medley.

In other individual results, Carey Behm broke the school-record in the preliminaries of the 500-yard free and topped his own mark in the finals with a time of 4:56.01. Mitchell Smith finished two spots behind Behm and Corey Koss took seventh, winning the consolation final.

The 400-yard medley relay team of Koss, Noah Frederick, Cerchiaro and Boyd finished second, and the 200-yard free relay of Boyd, Frederick, Behm and Smith finished fourth.

Elizabeth Prager led the women's team with a runner-up finish in the 500-yard free race, and Jillian Wright took seventh in the 200-yard individual medley.

The top moment of the day for the Panther women came in the 400-yard medley relay, where Prager, Wright, Rebecca Avery and Wenjing Miao broke the school record in 4:33.52.

Wednesday, Feb. 8 Recap

The Pitt-Bradford men's and women's swimming teams kicked off the AMCC Championships Wednesday in Erie.

After one event, the Panther men are in second with 36 points, and the women are in third with 24 points.

The quartet of Lucas Cerchiaro, Carey Behm, Corey Koss, and Devyn Condon broke the school-record in the 800-yard free relay in a time of 7:18.35, more than five seconds better than the previous record, to finish second behind Penn State Behrend.

The women's 800-yard free relay team of Elizabeth Prager, Jillian Wright, Rebecca Avery and Wenjing Miao placed third.

Pitt-Bradford returns to the pool tomorrow at 10 a.m. for day two of the AMCC Championships.
