Cerchiao, Wright Lead Panthers Against Washington & Jefferson

The Pitt-Bradford men's and women's swimming teams hosted Washington & Jefferson Saturday at the Paul C. Duke III Aquatic Center. The men fell 134-118, and the women lost 79-47.

On the men's side, the Panthers won a total of a total of eight events, led by Lucas Cerchiaro, who had individual victories in the 200-yard free, 200-yard butterfly and 400-yard individual medley.

Carey Behm took first in the 1,000-yard free, Noah Frederick won the 100-yard breaststroke race, and Nicholas Boyd had a pair of wins, finishing first in the 100-yard free and 100-yard butterfly.

The 200-yard medley relay team of Corey Koss, Frederick, Cerchiaro and Boyd won in 1:41.96

In other results, Koss was second in the 100-yard backstroke, Frederick was runner-up in the 200-yard breaststroke and Behm took second in the 500-yard free.

Julian Wright led the Panther women, finishing first in the 200-yard breaststroke and 400-yard individual medley. Pitt-Bradford's other wins included Wenjing Miao in the 100-yard breaststroke and Rebecca Avery in the 100-yard butterfly.

Abbie Bradshaw finished second in the 100-yard back and Wright was also fourth in the 200-yard free.

The Pitt-Bradford swim teams will be off until Dec. 2 when they compete in the Fredonia Blue Devil Invitational.
