BRADFORD, Pa. – The University of Pittsburgh at Bradford put together a strong defensive performance but ultimately could not find the back of the net as Allegheny came away with the win, 1-0.

"That's the best we've played all season. I'm extremely proud," Head Coach Nathan Whitehurst said. "One breakdown led to the goal, but we competed and battled the whole game. The decision is a loss, but today was a big step in the right direction."

Allegheny scored its lone goal just 12 minutes into the contest as the Gators took advantage of a through ball that got past the Panthers' back line and finished.

The Pitt-Bradford defense held strong as they defended six corner kicks in the half. Derrick Brock made six saves in goal during the period as well.

The Gators peppered the Panthers with shots in the second half, but the defense was able to clear all attempts. 

17 total Gator shots went toward the Panther goal during the half, and Brock stopped all seven that went on net.

Brock's 13 total saves are the most of his career, and his .929 save percentage is the best he's posted so far as well.

Ryuta Hayakawa notched three shot attempts while Ethan Acaster had two of his own. Acaster gave the Panthers their best chance to equalize shortly before halftime as he forced the Allegheny keeper to make a save on a shot on goal.

Friday's game was the first of four in a row for Pitt-Bradford.

The Panthers will host Wooster Saturday at 3 p.m. at the Kessel Athletics Complex.
