Bradford, Pa. -- The University of Pittsburgh at Bradford men's basketball team outscored Penn State-Behrend 33-24 in the second half, however, it was not enough to catch the Lions, who on the contest 65-51.
Game Notes:
- The Panthers got off to a quick start in the contest as Dylan Meyer hit two early baseline jumpers to help keep up with the Lions. With 16:27 to go Daniel Lynch hit a deep three from the right-wing to put the Panthers ahead by 2. After the Lions tied the game from the charity stripe, Nick Carmichael made a jump shot to restore the panther lead. Daniel Lynch hit another jumper to respond to a Penn State Behrend three to keep the Panthers ahead early.
- Gavin Boggs hit two free throws to put the Panthers up three, but the Panthers followed that with an eight-minute scoreless streak that saw the Lions score 20 straight points and build a 17 point lead. Alex Rodriguez ended the rally with a pull-up jumper with 5:06 to go.
- Jeffery Fry hit a deep three 3:08 to go, but it was the only basket the Panthers could muster in the last five minutes of the half. The Lions led 41-18 at the break.
- The Panthers came out of the break with a purpose, scoring the first 9 points of the 2nd. Daniel Lunch made a pull-up jumper on the opening possession of the second and Miles Parker followed it up by drilling a three from the left corner. Rodriguez added a second jumper to continue the rally and Meyer scored the last basket inside on a feed from Boggs.
- Pitt-Bradford put together another rally with 13:30 to go in the game that saw them cut a 24 point deficit in half over a 4-minute span. Parker got things started with threes on back to back possessions and after a Carmichael jumper, hit a mid-range shot with 10 minutes to go. Carmichael finished the rally with two free throws.
- The Panthers were unable to cut further into the Lion advantage for the remainder of play, as each Pitt-Bradford basket was answered on the other end.
Leaders:
- Miles Parker scored a game-high 14 points, all coming in the second half. He made 4 of 7 from the field including 3 of 6 from three. He added 3 points from the line.
- Daniel Lynch was the only other Panther to finish in double figures. He scored 10 points on 4 of 6 shooting. He also grabbed 6 rebounds and dished out 4 assists.
- Nick Carmichael scored 8 points in the game but also grabbed 10 rebounds. He pulled in 7 on the defensive side and 3 on offense.
The Panthers finish their season with a 1-24 record and a 0-20 campaign in AMCC play. Nick Carmichael finishes as the team's leading scorer and rebounder, averaging 12.5 points and 6.8 rebounds per game.
