Men's Basketball To Host LaRoche to Kick-off 2nd Half of Conference Slate

Bradford, Pa. -- The University of Pittsburgh at Bradford men's basketball team will begin the second round of their AMCC schedule by hosting the LaRoche Redhawks on Monday Night.

The young Panther line-up has struggled to score since the calendar turned to 2020, as they have averaged only 55.8 points per game over the 5 game stretch. When they have found success, it has often come from inside the paint, as freshmen forward Nick Carmichael has led the Panthers in scoring with 11.9 points per game. Fellow freshman Dylan Meyer has also been a key part of the Panther offense of late. In his last 3 games, he has scored 14.6 points per game, surpassing his season scoring average by over 10 points. In their last game, the Panthers fell on the road at Mount Aloysius 90-56. Carmichael led the Panthers with 19 points while Meyer added 14 and Miles Parker scored 10.

After struggling in non-conference play, LaRoche has dominated AMCC play, winning 9 out of 10 in the first round of conference play. The Redhawks have 4 players that are averaging double-figure points this season. Junior Tyler Frederick is the league's leading scorer and rebounder. He averages 20.2 points and 11.6 rebounds per contest. The other players scoring double figures for LaRoche are Kennedy Smith (17.4), Austin Hannes (14.5) and Darius Lawrence (14.2). LaRoche is coming off of a tight 3 point home victory over Hilbert on Saturday. 

In their previous match-up this season, The Redhawks dominated the Panthers at home, winning 95-60. 6 Players for LaRoche finished with double-digit points, led by Frederick who scored 19. Carmichael led the Panthers with 16.

The game is scheduled for a 6:00 p.m. tip-off in KOA Arena. The Pitt-Bradford Tennis team is continuing their  Hot Paws campaign, as they are collecting winter clothing items to be donated to local schools for distribution to children in need. Additionally, in cooperation with the AMCC, the Pitt-Bradford chapter of SAAC, Student-Athlete Advisory Committee, is participating in the SAAC for Socks program, collecting socks to be donated to the homeless in the home areas of different AMCC institutions.
