Panther Men's Basketball Struggles with Medaille, Loses 83-60

Bradford, Pa. -- The University of Pittsburgh at Bradford men's basketball team fell to AMCC foe Medaille 83-60 on Monday night.

Game Notes

  • After allowing the Mavericks to open proceedings with 5 quick points, the Panthers went on an 8-0 run that saw 4 different players score. Nick Carmichael started the rally with a lay up on a pass from Daniel Lynch. Lynch followed that up with a step back jumper on the next possession. Deondre Terwilliger hit a driving lay-up to put the Panthers ahead, and Dylan Meyer made a turn around jumper to finish the rally. 
  • Medaille responded with another 5-point run to regain the early lead, but saw Jeffery Fry convert a 4 point play to put Pitt-Bradford up 2.
  • Carmichael converted a 3 point play to put the Panthers up 17-12, but then Pitt-Bradford went on a 6 minute scoring drought that saw Medaille turn the 5-point deficit into a 9 point lead. 
  • The Mavericks pushed their lead to 20 at the break, outscoring the Panthers 31 to 6 over the final 11 minutes of play.
  • Medaille continued to add to their lead after the break, eventually pushing it to 30 points. The Panthers were only able to come with 22 points of their opponents.
  • The Panthers were uncharacteristically out-rebounded 57 to 37 in the contest, allowing Medaille to score 21 second chance points.

Leaders

  • Nick Carmichael was the lone Panther to score double figure points. He finished with 13 points on 5-10 shooting. He also added 3 from the line.
  • Dylan Meyer scored 8 points and grabbed 4 rebounds in just 12 minutes of action. He made 4 of his 5 field goal attempts.
  • Gavin Boggs scored 6 points, grabbed 6 rebounds and dished out 6 assists in the game. He also recorded 2 steals.

The Panthers head to their winter break with a 1-7 record overall and a 0-5 record in conference play. They will return to action after the holiday, when they will play in the Woodcliff Hotel and Spa Tournament in Rochester, Hosted by St. John Fisher University. They will take on Cortland at 6:00 p.m. on December 29th, and play in a second game on Monday.
