HAMILTON, N.Y. -- The University of Pittsburgh at Bradford men's basketball team fought to the finish on the road against Division I opponent Colgate Friday, but the Raiders topped the Panthers 103-52.

"We missed some open looks early but played a pretty solid offensive game overall," Head Coach Sean Brown Sr. said. "We didn't do a great job boxing out and got killed on the boards. Our initial defense was pretty solid, but our rotations were slow and second shots killed us. Malique McCoy had a big game for us today. He's doing a pretty good job of adjusting to our system and I'm pretty confident that he'll continue to progress. Colby Mills also put together a really good all-around game. All in all, it was a great experience and opportunity for us to face such a quality Division I opponent to see how we measure up before heading back to conference play after the new year."

Malique McCoy led the way for the Panthers with 17 points. Colby Mills hit four three-pointers and scored 14 points.

The Panthers hung with the Raiders in the early minutes of the game, forcing Colgate to a 2-6 mark on field goal attempts in the first four minutes of the game.

Down 10-0, Sahlil Harris scored the first points of the day for the Panthers with a layup at the 14:30 mark.

Three-pointers from Mills and Christian Kelly-Perkins gave the Panthers an offensive boost and kept the Panthers within single-digits, bringing the score to 17-8 in favor of Colgate at the 12:48 mark.

Buckets from McCoy, Reginald Rogers and Dylan Mitchell gave the Panthers 20 points at the half. The two teams went into the break with Colgate ahead, 49-20.

McCoy led Pitt-Bradford at the half with eight points, going 2-4 from long range and 3-10 from the field.

Harris assisted three of the Panthers' eight buckets in the first half.

The two teams traded baskets in the early minutes of the second half with Mitchell scoring for the Panthers.

Mills caught fire in the second half and knocked down a trio of three-pointers, going 4-6 from the field overall for 11 second-half points.

McCoy also connected from long range in the second half and went 4-9 from the floor for nine second-half points.

Colgate continued to build its lead, though, and eventually held on to win 103-52.

For the game, Dylan Niedermeyer led the team with four rebounds.

Rogers and Harris led Pitt-Bradford with three assists apiece. 

The Panthers will be off until after the New Year and will next resume AMCC play at Penn State-Altoona on Wednesday, Jan. 3.
