PITTSBURGH -- The University of Pittsburgh at Bradford baseball team fell in both sides of a doubleheader at first-place La Roche Saturday.

Pitt-Bradford (14-14, 7-9 AMCC) hung tough but dropped game one 4-1 before falling 8-3 in game two.

"Tough day. Just couldn't get the job done," Head Coach Zach Foster said. "Needed a couple of timely hits. Our guys know for us to accomplish what we want in the long run, we need to win close games like the first one. We are right on the cusp. Game two, we just gave them too many free bags which led to their runs."

With a win in the first contest, the Redhawks secured the AMCC Regular Season Championship and will be the host site for the conference championship tournament final rounds.

In game one, Andrew Bacha held the Redhawks in check, allowing four runs in 4.1 innings on the mound while leaving eight runners stranded.

The Panthers jumped out to a 1-0 lead as Justin Dattoli clubbed a double to right that scored Jake McNabb.

But two in the third inning and one apiece in the fourth and fifth gave the Redhawks a 4-1 advantage.

In the seventh, Dattoli singled for his second hit of the ballgame, but La Roche induced a game-ending double play for the victory.

Tyler Aires and McNabb also recorded hits for the Panthers.

Ben Suter came on in relief for Pitt-Bradford and threw 1.2 innings of one-hit, scoreless ball.

Then in game two, Pitt-Bradford out-hit the Redhawks, 9-7, led by multi-hit games from Kevin Rehak, Jason Lucarelli and McNabb,

Logan Edmonds started and tossed 4.1 innings, surrendering just two hits, striking out one but walking seven.

La Roche jumped out to an earl 2-0 lead as a walk and a hit by pitch with the bases loaded plated a pair.

But Pitt-Bradford tied it up as Aires scored McNabb on a groundout in the second, then Rehak scored Lucarelli on a single to left in the third.

A pair of runs in the bottom of the third on an RBI double and sacrifice fly put the Redhawks up a pair once again.

Rehak delivered once again, cutting into the La Roche lead as he scored Lucarelli with a double to left.

But the Redhawks broke through with three runs in the fifth and another in the seventh to take the 8-3 lead.

The La Roche pitching settled in and the Panthers would be unable to threat the rest of the wat.

Alex Andrzejewski threw 3.2 effective innings out of the bullpen, striking out three while surrendering one earned run and walking one.

Panther pitching and defense left 11 Redhawks stranded on base along the way.

Up next, the Panthers will head to Medaille Monday for its final AMCC action of the season. First pitch is set for 1 p.m.
