Panthers Sweep Wells To Start 2019 Season

AURORA, N.Y. -- The University of Pittsburgh at Bradford baseball team swept Wells in a doubleheader for its first action of the 2019 season Saturday.

"It was great to be out of the gym and outside playing," Head Coach Zach Foster said. "Boyer was unbelievable today. Made one mistake, but just shows what he is capable of. Congrats to Jake McNabb on his first collegiate HR. Was fun to watch our guys battle today. Ready to get back at it tomorrow."

Pitt-Bradford defeated Wells 8-1 in game one, then came out on top 10-6 in game two.

Ryan Boyer came one out away from a perfect game in game one and had 16 strikeouts.

Also in game one, Jake McNabb hit his first career home run.

On the day, Sawyer Packard picked up a pair of doubles and drove in three runs.

Andrew Bacha started game two and picked up the win and striking out five batters along the way.

Pitt-Bradford and Wells will play a single nine-inning game Sunday. First pitch is set for 12 p.m.
