PITTSBURGH – The University of Pittsburgh at Bradford baseball team dropped both sides of a doubleheader at La Roche Saturday.

"It was a tough day today against a tough team," Head Coach Zach Foster said. "We know if we want to be in the spot we want we have to beat those teams. The guys battled hard. I know they will bounce back."

Pitt-Bradford played as the home team in the day's action, as the games were originally scheduled to take place at the Kessel Athletic Complex but were moved to La Roche due to weather in Bradford.

After the day's action, the Panthers are 8-7 in Allegheny Mountain Collegiate Conference contests and hold fifth place.

La Roche, which holds first place in the AMCC and is ranked No. 18 in the most recent NCBWA/D3baseball.com National Top 25 poll, improves to 14-2 in conference play.

The Panthers rallied in both games, scoring six runs in the fifth inning of game one and three in the bottom of the ninth in the nightcap.

Dalton Renn provided the pop for the Panthers in game two with three doubles and two RBIs.

Game One: La Roche 11, Pitt-Bradford 8

La Roche built a 10-0 lead in the fourth but the Panthers got on the board in the bottom half.

Brody Wood sent Jay Clinger home with a ball in play.

Pitt-Bradford then rallied for six runs in the fifth to cut the lead to 10-7.

Tyler Hoops drove a two-run single to get the scoring started in the inning followed by an RBI single from Clinger.

Wood knocked his second RBI of the game before Sawyer Packard delivered a two-run, bases-loaded double.

In the sixth, Clinger sent home Samuel Dreistadt to cut the La Roche lead to two runs, 10-8.

The Redhawks added one in the seventh, though, and eventually held on for the 11-8 victory.

Nate Renick started on the mound for the Panthers and went four innings before being relieved by Benjamin Hayes. Renick struck out two while Hayes sent down one in his three innings of work.

Game Two: La Roche 19, Pitt-Bradford 2

Down 3-0, the Panthers scored their first run of the ballgame in the third.

Hoops and Parent both walked, and Dalton Renn then sent Hoops home with a double down the left field line.

The 3-1 score held into the sixth, but La Roche opened up the game with six runs in each the sixth and seventh.

The Redhawks then took a 19-1 lead with four runs in the eighth.

Pitt-Bradford rallied in the ninth, though.

With two down, Hoops extended the game with a walk and Packard followed suit.

Parent scored Hoops with a single, and Packard came into score on Dalton Renn's second RBI double of the game.

Brody Wood later drew a bases-loaded walk that scored Parent.

But the Panther offense would be halted right there and La Roche would hang on for the 19-4 win.

Alex Andrzejewski started on the mound for the Panthers and delivered 5.1 innings surrendering five runs while striking out two.

Sam Gwiazdinski, Drake Renn and Tom Easton all pitched in relief for Pitt-Bradford.

Dalton Renn led the way with three hits for the Panthers – all doubles. Parent added a pair himself.

Up next, the Panthers will resume AMCC action and head to Mount Aloysius for a single game Tuesday.
