Pitt-Bradford Baseball Set To Play Home Opener Saturday Against Medaille

BRADFORD, Pa. -- After an uncooperative spring from Mother Nature, the University of Pittsburgh at Bradford baseball team is set to play its first home contests Saturday as Medaille comes to the Kessel Athletic Complex for an Allegheny Mountain Collegiate Conference doubleheader.

Pitt-Bradford will also be in action Sunday against D'Youville, with a site to be announced.

The Panthers went 4-1 in AMCC play last week, starting out with a sweep at Hilbert Wednesday.

Pitt-Bradford's most recent action was this past weekend, splitting both sides of a doubleheader at Pitt-Greensburg Saturday and capturing the victory in the lone contest played at Mount Aloysius Sunday. Game two was postponed due to heavy fog.

Catcher Austin Parent put together a red-hot week and was properly awarded for so, earning the NCBWA's National Player of the Week, HEROSports.com D3 Baseball HERO of the Week, a spot on the D3Baseball.com Team of the Week and the AMCC Player of the Week.

Parent hit five home runs and knocked in 14 RBIs in five games as part of his stellar week. Two of his home runs were grand slams, and he hit three homers in one day during the doubleheader at Pitt-Greensburg Saturday. He leads the AMCC with a .466 batting average all season.

On the season, Tyler Hoops is hitting .400 and has posted a .522 on-base percentage.

Dalton Renn is second on the team with 24 RBIs and is tied with Parent with five home runs. He also hit a grand slam against Pitt-Greensburg.

On the mound, Ryan Boyer remains the Panthers' ace. He's made six starts and dealt 34.2 innings pitched while posting a 2.60 ERA. He has struck out 45 batters and owns a 3-1 record.

On the year, Medaille is 9-12 overall with a 2-6 mark in AMCC games. Dominick Teoli owns the fifth-best batting average in the AMCC at .417. On the mound, Sal Carroccia has made eight appearances and tossed 27 innings while picking up three wins along the way.

For D'Youville, the Spartans are 3-13 on the year and hold a 1-7 record in conference play. Justin Brackna is the fourth-leading hitter in the AMCC at .436.
