GREENSBURG, Pa. -- The University of Pittsburgh at Bradford baseball team used the long ball to capture an Allegheny Mountain Collegiate Conference victory in the first game of a doubleheader at Pitt-Greensburg Saturday.

"We played very well game one," Head Coach Zach Foster said. "It was nice to see AP tap into his power. Andrzejewski kept a solid hitting team in the ballpark and allowed us to keep swinging. Game two, we walked too many guys and extended the innings out and that killed us. That's the beauty of baseball though. We have an opportunity to wake up and do it again tomorrow and fix those mistakes."

Austin Parent knocked three home runs on the day -- two in the first game and one in the second.

Also in the first contest, Dalton Renn and Parent knocked grand slams to help aid the 19-run output.

Samuel Dreistadt also homered for Pitt-Bradford in game one.

After the day, the Panthers hold a 9-9 overall record and a 3-3 mark in conference contests.

Game One: Pitt-Bradford 19, Pitt-Greensburg 8

The Panthers wasted no time in getting its offense going, as Jay Clinger lined a two-run double center that scored Parent and Packard.

A two-run single from Pitt-Greensburg in the bottom of the first tied the game at 2-2, but the knotted scored would be short-lived.

With the bases loaded, Parent stepped in and drove his second home run of the season -- a grand slam to centerfield to put the Panthers ahead, 6-2.

The Panthers broke the game open in the third, scoring eight runs. Renn accounted for half of the runs scored in the frame as he smacked a grand slam -- the Panthers' second of the game.

Also in the inning, Samuel Dreistadt worked a two-run single, Parent an RBI single and Jason Lucarelli and RBI double.

Pitt-Bradford didn't stop there as Dreistadt knocked a two-run homer in the fourth.

An RBI double from Dalton Renn capped the scoring in the fourth and gave the Panthers a 17-2 lead.

Greensburg got one back in the bottom of the fourth, but the Panthers got it back on a sacrifice fly from Tyler Hoops that scored Tim Brown.

The final run of the ballgame came on a solo shot from Parent in the sixth to left center for his second homer of the game.

Greensburg scored five more runs in the final two innings but the Panther offense was too much to overcome.

Alex Andrzejewski picked up the win on the mound, throwing five innings and striking out three.

Sam Gwiazdinski and Drake Renn each threw complete innings in relief to close out the game. Drake Renn struck out one batter.

With his two homers, Parent drove in six runs to lead the way. Dalton Renn had five RBIs and Dreistadt had four.

Seven difference Panthers earned hits, with five working multi-hit games.

Parent and Dalton Renn had three hits apiece while Clinger, Lucarelli and Dreistadt had two apiece. Hoops and Packard landed in one each.

Pitt-Greensburg left 17 runners on base while the Panthers left seven stranded.

Game Two: Pitt-Greensburg 10, Pitt-Bradford 5

The two teams went quietly in the first two innings. Pitt-Greensburg took a 2-0 lead in the third on two RBI doubles.

The Panthers scored their first runs of the day on an RBI from Robert Sawicki that scored Brody Wood.

But Greensburg extended its lead with four runs in the fourth, taking a 6-1 advantage.

The Panthers got three back, though, as Parent knocked his third home runs of the day, a solo shot to right center.

Pitt-Bradford plated two more as Clinger scored on an error and Lucarelli drove home Brown on a double.

But two more in the sixth and one in the seventh put Pitt-Greensburg up, 10-4.

Parent again delivered for the Panthers, this time an RBI single in the eighth to cut the Greensburg lead to five.

Greensburg held the Panthers off, though, and secured the win.

Nate Renick started on the mound for the Panthers and tossed 3.1 innings.

Benjamin Hayes threw 2.2 innings of relief and Tom Easton tossed the final two innings.

The Panthers will be in action next on Sunday morning at Mount Aloysius starting at 10 a.m.
