Panthers Head To Wilmington For Doubleheader Sunday

BRADFORD, Pa. -- The University of Pittsburgh at Bradford baseball team will head to Wilmington (Ohio) Sunday for a doubleheader.

Pitt-Bradford is coming off six games in the Gene Cusic Classic in Lee County, Fla., last week. The Panthers went 3-3 in Florida, but hold a 5-3 overall record to start the season.

Through their first eight games, the Panthers boast the fourth-best offense in the country, averaging 10.9 runs per game. 

Pitt-Bradford is also tied for seventh nationally with 3.0 doubles per game and 16th nationally with a team on-base percentage of .450.

Sawyer Packard is the top run producer in the AMCC with 14 RBIs. For his performance in the opening week of the season, he was named the conference's Player of the Week.

With 12 RBIs, Tim Brown has the third-most in the AMCC.

Pitt-Bradford also has the top hitter in the AMCC in Tyler Hoops, who owns a batting average of .516. Hoops has a hit in every game so far for the Panthers and has multi-hit contests in five of the team's eight games, including a 4-for-5 performance against Bluffton (March 6).

Dalton Renn leads the conference with three home runs. He has driven in 11 runs so far this season.

On the mound, Ryan Boyer leads the conference with 26 strikeouts in 14.2 innings pitched.

Games at Wilmington are set for 12 and 3 p.m. Sunday.

Wilmington enters the weekend with a 5-6 overall record and will play a doubleheader with Bluffton Saturday. Nick Silvis and Joshua Chua lead the team with .405 batting averages. Chua also has a team-best 14 RBIs.
