The Pitt-Bradford baseball team earned its first sweep of the season Wednesday, holding on late in both games against D'Youville to win by scores of 9-7 and 11-10.

The Panthers built a 9-0 lead after three innings in game and hung on in the later innings as the Spartans rallied to make things interesting.

Kyle Hunt, Dalton Renn and Austin Hoggatt each drove in two runs, as eight different Pitt-Bradford batters recorded a hit. Both teams combined for 24 total hits.

Starter Ryan Northcott threw four scoreless innings before D'Youville started chipping away in the fifth inning. Despite the late surge by the Spartans, Northcott went the distance, allowing seven runs on 12 hits. He walked two and struck out six.

Game two mimicked the opener, with the Panthers building an 11-3 lead before the Spartans used a seven-run seventh to tie the game. Pitt-Bradford went ahead on Dalton Renn's RBI double in the bottom of the frame, and the bullpen kept D'Youville off the board the rest of the way to preserve the win.

Samuel Dreistadt was 4-5 at the plate, including a two-run double in the first and a RBI single in the sixth, to lead the Panthers' offense. Jay Clinger opened the scoring with a two-run single in the first, and Austin Parent drove in two runs with a double in the second. Brock Blovsky added three hits, a RBI, scored two runs and stole a base.

Starter Justin Beimel left with a no-decision after allowing seven runs in 6.1 innings. He gave up nine hits, walked six and struck out two. Nate Renick pitched a scoreless 1.2 innings in relief, and Matthew Hogue earned his first save of the season with a 1-2-3 ninth inning.

Pitt-Bradford improves to 7-13 on the season and 2-0 in the AMCC. The Panthers will host Pitt-Greensburg Saturday at 1 p.m.
