John Carroll scored seven runs in the top half of the 10th inning Tuesday to deal the Pitt-Bradford baseball team a 14-7 defeat at the Gene Cusic Collegiate Classic in Fort Myers, Florida.

It was the Panthers' third consecutive defeat to open their trip in Florida and fifth straight since winning their season opener against Juniata.

Pitt-Bradford struck for four runs in the first, fueled by a John Carroll error that led to two runners scoring and a RBI single by Tim Brown.

John Carroll scored two in the second to pull within 4-2, but Austin Parent doubled in a run the bottom half of the inning to stretch the Panthers' advantage to 5-2.

The Lobos rallied to tie the game in the third inning with a RBI single and two-run base hit. Pitt-Bradford went back ahead 7-5, scoring twice on a pair of errors, in the fourth. John Caroll clawed back once again, leveling the score in the seventh inning with a RBI sacrifice fly and triple.

Neither team could push across the winning run in the late innings, and in the top half of the 10th, the Lobos netted seven runs on three hits, including a bases-clearing triple.

John Caroll finished with 11 hits compared to Pitt-Bradford's eight. Kyle Hunt led the Panthers with three hits, and three different players drove in a run.

Starter Matthew Hogue went seven innings, allowing seven runs, five earned, while striking out four. Alex Andrzejewski suffered the loss, surrendering all seven runs in the decisive 10th inning. Only one of the seven runs were earned.

Pitt-Bradford drops to 1-6 on the season and plays Anna Maria and Bluffton Wednesday.
