GREENSBURG, Pa. – The University of Pittsburgh at Bradford baseball team (7-15, 2-6) dropped two close games in an AMCC doubleheader at Pitt-Greensburg (15-11, 7-1) on Saturday afternoon. 

The Panthers fell, 3-0, in the opener and dropped the finale, 4-2. 

"These were two heartbreaking losses," said Pitt Bradford head coach Bret Butler. "Being so close in both to a top of the league team makes it sting even more." 

Brock Blovsky led the Panthers at the plate in the opener, going 2-3 with an RBI while Jay Clinger went 1-3 and also drove in one run. Kevin Sompel and Dalton Renn added one hit each in the loss. 

Despite getting hit with the loss, Ryan Northcott went the distance in game two, allowing four runs on nine hits while striking out one over eight innings of work. 

"Northy struggled early, but settled in and pitched very well," Butler said. "We are extremely young, and I am so proud of their never say die attitude. They never quit, and down the road I see positive returns coming. This team will be pretty darn good if they stick with it." 

Matt Moyer, Ryan Dodson and Anthony Bozzuto drove in one run each for the Bobcats while Cam Smith picked up the victory with six strong innings on the mound. Joe Zufall tossed a perfect ninth to earn his second save of the season. 

The Bobcats jumped out to an early 2-0 lead, picking up the first run on a fielding error and then the second on Bozzuto's RBI single up the middle in the first.

Blovsky cut the Pitt-Greensburg lead to 2-1 with an RBI single in the top of the second, but the Bobcats answered with one of their own on a Matt Moyer solo shot in the home half to extend their lead to 3-1 after two.

The Bobcats picked up their final run in the bottom of the third when Chris Common scored on a double play ball to short.

Both pitchers settled in for the next few innings until Clinger roped an RBI single to pull the Panthers within 4-2 in the top of the seventh. However, two runs were as close as Pitt-Bradford would come as the Bobcats hung on for victory to complete the sweep.

Pitt-Greensburg came out on the winning end of a pitcher's duel, winning the opener 3-0.

Brandon Rowland tossed a complete game two-hitter for the Bobcats, striking out six and walking two over seven shutout innings.

Ryan Boyer pitched well for the Panthers, allowing just three runs while striking out four over six strong innings.

"Boyer threw an excellent game especially for a freshman," Butler said. "He did not get the run support. We are young, but we have to capitalize when we have the offensive opportunities."

Austin Parent and Dalton Renn had the Panther's only two hits while Tim Brown and Brock Blovsky drew a walk in the loss.

Ryan Dodson, Adam Dodson and Anthony Bozzuto drove in the Bobcat's runs in the opener.

Adam Dodson put Pitt-Greensburg on the board with an RBI single in the bottom of the second while Ryan Dodson followed with an RBI single in the bottom of the third, giving the Bobcats a 2-0 lead after three.

Bozzuto hit a solo shot in the bottom of the sixth to cap the Bobcat's scoring in the 3-0 victory in the opener.

The Panthers get right back to it on Sunday afternoon for a non-conference matchup with Baldwin Wallace at the Kessel Athletic Complex. First pitch is slated for 3 p.m.
