BEREA, OH – The Pitt-Bradford baseball team traveled to Berea to take on Baldwin Wallace for the last regular season game of the year and fell to the Yellow Jackets, 8-3.

Leading the offense for the Panthers was senior Kody Johnston who went 3-5 on the day.

The Panthers jumped out to an early lead in the first inning after a catcher's interference led to freshman Jean Turber (Northumberland/Shikellemy) coming in to score to put Pitt-Bradford on top, 1-0.

Baldwin Wallace tied the game up in their next at bats after an RBI single.

The Yellow Jackets took the lead in the bottom of the fifth after back-to-back RBI doubles put them on top 3-1.

The Panthers came back with two of their own after RBIs from sophomore Matt Sompel (Scranton/Scranton) and junior Bobby Sorokas (Plains/Coughlin) to tie the game back up at 3-3.

Baldwin Wallace took over the game by scoring two in the seventh and three in the eighth as they held off the Panthers, 8-3.

Pitt-Bradford head coach Bret Butler said, "It was a good prep for the weekend series with UPG. We had a freshman, Dalton Renn, on the mound, and he pitched very well through seven innings against a nationally ranked club. I am proud of this young team, and we are getting more and more confident every inning. We had 11 hits today against a very good pitching staff, the best we have seen all year. I like our chances Saturday."

The Panthers will head into the AMCC Tournament as they take on Pitt-Greensburg on May 2 at 10 a.m.
