Cleveland, Carson Named AMCC Athletes of the Week

Bradford, Pa. -- After a dominating week that saw the University of Pittsburgh at Bradford volleyball win 5 games and secure the title of the Buttermaker Classic, two of its players were named AMCC Athletes of the Week.

Senior Emily Cleveland was named AMCC Offensive Volleyball Player of the Week. This is the third time she has won this award in her career. The reigning Co-Player of the Year was unstoppable for the Panthers this week, recording 83 kills in the five matches, converting at a .331 hitting percentage. She also added four service aces, 25 digs, and seven total blocks on her way to being named to the all-tournament team of the Buttermaker Classic. On the first day of the tournament, Cleveland was especially lethal, putting down 36 kills on just 49 swings while committing only two errors.

Junior defensive specialist Stephanie Carson earned her first career Defensive Player of the Week honor. Carson stepped out of a rotational role and into the Pitt-Bradford starting line-up after an injury and became a huge part of the Panthers' 5-0 week. She picked up 89 digs in the five matches, including 52 on the final day of the competition at the Buttermaker Challenge against Gallaudet and Neumann. She also tallied 11 service aces over a three-game stretch.

The Panthers have a 6-3 record on the season and will play five more matches this week. They will travel to Keuka on Tuesday and follow that up with a home match on Wednesday against Allegheny. The Panthers will close their week with three matches at the Knights Invitational, hosted by Neumann University.
