Riley Anderson Named AMCC Player of the Week

Official AMCC Release

ORCHARD PARK, N.Y. -- Sophomore Riley Anderson of the University of Pittsburgh at Bradford women's volleyball team has been named the Allegheny Mountain Collegiate Conference Player of the Week for her performance during the period of Oct. 29-Nov. 4, conference officials announced Monday.

"Riley just seems to be at her best in the biggest games, and that's what an all-star and team leader does," Head Coach Tom Roof said. "We had three pressure games this past week and she just doesn't back down. She just makes play after play both offensively and defensively and ends up helping us to three big wins and a conference title."

For Anderson, this is the second time this season she has earned the honor of AMCC Player of the Week (Sept. 17).

The Cresson, Pa., native was the offensive driving force for a Panthers team that pulled off an incredible comeback at and against top-seeded Penn State-Behrend in Sunday's AMCC Championship game.

The sophomore knocked 42 total kills in the playoffs for 3.82 per set while recording 47 total digs (4.27 per set).

In the finals, she hammered 15 kills and a pair of service aces to lead the squad while being named to the AMCC All-Tournament team.

After picking up its second conference title in three years, Pitt-Bradford moved to 20-12 on the season and earned the AMCC's automatic bid to the NCAA Division III Tournament.

Pitt-Bradford will play Thomas More (31 - 3) Friday at 3:00 p.m. in the Huntingdon, Pennsylvania Regional hosted at Juniata College.
