Katie Treat Named AMCC Player of the Week

Official AMCC Release

ORCHARD PARK, N.Y. -- Sophomore Katie Treat of the University of Pittsburgh at Bradford women's volleyball team has been named the Allegheny Mountain Collegiate Conference Player of the Week for her performance during the period of Oct. 22-28, conference officials announced Monday.

"This is a well-deserved honor for Katie," Head Coach Tom Roof said. "She's a difference-maker on the court. As a blocker, she's always going up against the other team's top hitter, so for her to do what she does, not only blocking but hitting, is impressive. She's really developed into, I think, the best right side player in the conference, bringing us a huge attack while being an incredible blocker. This is a great honor for her because she performs for us every single game, sometimes under the radar, but as coaches, we see what she does for this team."

The Cyclone, Pa., native swung an impressive .548 on the week, knocking 20 kills on 31 attempts with just three hitting errors in a 2-0 week against conference opponents for Pitt-Bradford.

She was at her best Saturday, leading both teams with 11 kills to help power the Panthers to a win at Penn State-Altoona and secure the No. 3 seed in the AMCC Championship Tournament.

The sophomore also blocked five total opposing attempts at the net and she averaged 4.5 points per set this week.

On the season, Treat is second in the AMCC with 72 blocks assisted and 88 total blocks, with the third-best blocks-per-set average at 0.87. She's third on the team with 187 total kills and fourth with a .224 hitting percentage.

The Panthers finished the regular season 7-2 in conference play and 17-12 overall.

As the No. 3 seed in the AMCC Tournament, the Panthers will host No. 6 Medaille Wednesday at the KOA Arena at 7 p.m., the winner advancing to play No. 2 Mount Aloysius Saturday in the semifinals. Both the semifinals and championship match will be held at No. 1 Penn State-Behrend.
