Panthers Set For First AMCC Road Match At D'Youville Tuesday

BRADFORD, Pa. -- The University of Pittsburgh at Bradford women's volleyball team is set to play its first Allegheny Mountain Collegiate Conference road match Tuesday at D'Youville.

Pitt-Bradford is coming off a solid three-set victory over Franciscan Saturday at the KOA Arena.

With the victory, the Panthers moved to 11-8 overall and 2-1 in AMCC action, which is good for third place in the conference. The Panthers lead the AMCC in total wins.

The Panthers' outside hitters were nearly unstoppable, as Emily Cleveland hammered home kills on each of her first eight swings and totaled 16. She finished the day with an outstanding .750 hitting percentage.

Riley Anderson led the game with 20 kills, 11 of which coming in the third set. On the day, she hit a .326 percentage.

Payton Orzech assisted 42 of the team's 49 kills.

Laura Hildebrand recorded a game-best 20 digs.

Orzech and Anderson were each credited with 10 digs for double-doubles.

The Panthers continue to own one of the nation's best defenses, ranking third in NCAA Division III with 1,362 team digs and 17th nationally with 19.18 digs per set. Hildebrand is ninth in the country with 374 total digs.

At the net, Pitt-Bradford's 126.5 team blocks is 24th most in the country. Katie Treat leads Pitt-Bradford with 51 (79th nationally).

To go along with one of the country's top defenses is a dynamic offense, led by Anderson and Cleveland.

Since the most recent stat update, Pitt-Bradford is the only team in the country with two players ranking in the top 30 nationally in total kills (Anderson, T-24th, 231 kills, and Cleveland T-27th, 229 kills).

And distributing to the Panthers' hitters is Orzech, whose 603 assists rank 35th in NCAA Division III.

D'Youville welcomes the Panthers with a 1-16 overall mark and 1-1 record in AMCC action so far, defeating Hilbert on Sept. 26. Julie Fleming is fourth in the AMCC with a .292 hitting percentage while Desiree Walters ranks fourth in the conference with 4.48 digs per set.

Tuesday's match is set for a 7 p.m. start.
