Pitt-Bradford Swept in Wooster Finale

WOOSTER, Oh. – The University of Pittsburgh at Bradford volleyball team fell to Wooster, and Muskingum, in straight sets in the final day of the Ginny Hunt Kilt Classic Saturday afternoon at the College of Wooster.

Pitt-Bradford fell to Wooster by scores of 25-23, 25-20, and 25-23, before falling to Muskingum 25-23, 25-13, and 25-22. Panther's outside hitter, Kirsten Platz, was named to the all-tournament team.

"It was another tough day, but we are still able to come away from the tournament feeling good about how we stacked up to the competition," said Pitt-Bradford volleyball coach, Tom Roof. "We played both of those teams point for point until the end and I'm very proud of the way the girls competed today.

Kaitlin McCann and Mandy Finch led the Panthers with six kills in the loss to Wooster, while Christina Rauh added six kills, 15 assists and 13 digs. Brittany Watts finished three kills and 11 digs, and Emily Reitz finished with five digs.

Platz led the Panthers with seven kills and three solo blocks in the loss to Muskingum. Jenessa Ceprish finished with 18 digs and Rauh added 23 assists.

"We had some starters go down with injuries and that certainly didn't help," Roof said. "I was really happy with how our libero, Emily (Reitz), played this weekend. She really stepped up for us and had some nice games."

The Panthers return to action Wednesday at Allegany at 6 p.m.

"This tournament is certainly going to help us in the long run," Roof said. "I also think we really came together as a team this weekend, which is great."
