HOUGHTON, N.Y. – Kaitlin McCann had her best game of the season, but the University of Pittsburgh at Bradford volleyball team fell on the road, 3-1, to an incredibly tough Houghton College team.

"We knew it was going to be tough to go in there and be successful," said Pitt-Bradford head volleyball coach Tom Roof. "When you a play a team as good as Houghton, you have to be consistent all around in every set, and that just didn't happen for us tonight. We've always had trouble playing out there."

The Highlanders came out swinging, taking the first set 25-15 and the second set 25-18. The Panthers picked it up in the third set, coming away with a 25-22 victory, but fell in the fourth set, 25-13.

McCann led the Panthers with a season-high eight kills, four digs and three blocks. Jenessa Ceprish added 20 digs, while Alexis Dhayer added 18 digs and five kills. Kirsten Platz chipped in with five kills, Christina Rauh added 26 assists, and Brittany Watts finished with 14 digs.

"Kaitlin was terrific tonight. It was definitely her best game of the season," Roof said. "As a team, we did some good things, but unfortunately we just couldn't stay consistent and that's what really hurt us. I thought it was the worst we've played all season."

Pitt-Bradford will have less than 24 hours to dwell on the tough loss to Houghton, before heading out to Wooster College for a tournament Friday and Saturday. The Panthers kick off the Wooster Invitational, Friday against Albion at 5:30 p.m.

"This weekend is going to be a great challenge for us against three really good teams," Roof said. "We have played well so far against some very tough opponents and that will definitely help us heading into conference play."
