Volleyball falls to Elizabethtown and Lycoming in Weekend Finale

WILLIAMSPORT, Pa. - The University of Pittsburgh at Bradford volleyball team battled, but ultimately fell to Elizabethtown and Lycoming, Saturday afternoon at Lycoming College.

The Panthers 3-0 loss to Elizabethtown was the first time the team suffered a loss without going the full five sets. Pitt-Bradford fell 3-1 to Lycoming in the finale.

"I know we lost 3-0, but I thought we played really well against a very tough Elizabethtown team," said Pitt-Bradford volleyball coach, Tom Roof. "We hit from all angles and it was really a great match. All of the games were close."

Alexis Dhayer led the Panthers with 15 digs and four kills and Alma Turpin followed with 10 digs and five kills. Jenessa Ceprish finished with 21 digs, while Emily Reitz added 15 digs and Rauh had 18 assists.

The Panthers got out to a good start against Lycoming, splitting the first two sets. However, the Warriors took the momentum in the third set and never gave it back.

"We started out well, but for the first time all season I think we played poorly," Roof said. "They just took us out of our rhythm and it's hard to recover from losing the third set."

Rauh led Pitt-Bradford in the loss with 20 assists, seven digs and six kills, while Turpin added 11 kills and nine digs. Kirsten Platz chipped in with four blocks.

"We're not satisfied with going 3-1 at this tournament, but we are a young team that has a lot of work to do," Roof said. "We just need to keep working hard and the results will come."

The Panthers return to action Tuesday night at 7 against Alfred in the Koa Gymnasium.
