Volleyball shuts out D’Youville, 3-0

BUFFALO, N.Y. – The Pitt-Bradford volleyball team shutout the D'Youville Spartans, 3-0, on Wednesday, Oct. 15, behind a strong performance both offensively and defensively.

Pitt-Bradford (10-18, 4-1) defeated the Spartans 25-21, 25-18 and 25-21 in consecutive sets to claim the match with ease. The Lady Panthers allowed D'Youville (8-12, 0-4) to hang around in each set, but ultimately found a way to earn the victory.

Offensively, senior Brittni Cumberland put up an impressive performance with 20 assists. She tacked on six kills and six digs to complete a strong night on the court. Senior Peyton Kauffman also finished with double-digit assists at 14 for the night. She added two digs defensively.

Sophomore defensive specialist Kelsey Repke led the Panthers with 11 digs. Freshman Haley Vinelli was close behind with nine, while adding four kills and two assists.

With the win, Pitt-Bradford continues to make a strong run at the number one seed in the Allegheny Mountain Collegiate Conference Tournament. With four conference matches remaining, the Panthers couldn't have asked to be in a better position for a strong finish.

Pitt-Bradford travels to face Penn State Altoona on Saturday, Oct. 18. The Panthers and Lions square off at 1 p.m. in Altoona, Pa.
