McMillen headlines 2014 All-AMCC selections

BRADFORD, Pa. – Senior right-side hitter Taylor McMillen has been tabbed the 2014 Allegheny Mountain Collegiate Conference Volleyball Player of the Year, as voted on by the coaches.

Along with receiving the Player of the Year honor, McMillen was also selected to the All-AMCC First Team from her right-side hitter position. For the year, she ranked first in the conference in total kills (424), second in kills per set (3.39) and second in hitting percentage (.268). She also finished first on the Panthers' roster in each category as well.

McMillen's best performance of the season came at Penn State Altoona on Oct. 18, where she racked up an eye-popping 25 kills to go with one service ace, two digs and two block assists. For her career, McMillen ranks fourth in Pitt-Bradford history with a total of 1,194 kills. She is first in attack attempts (3,047), fourth in points (1,420.5) and sixth in points per set (3.11). She also ranks at the top of chart in total matches played (124) and sets played (457).

Also receiving All-AMCC honors were fellow senior setter/outside hitter Brittni Cumberland and sophomore outside hitter/middle blocker Brittany Watts, each of whom were selected to the third team.

Cumberland turned in a stellar senior campaign by finishing the year second on the team in kills (233). She had a team-high 509 assists to go with 291 digs and a total of 47 blocks. For her career, she ranks fourth all-time in assists (1,751), eighth in digs (958) and she is tied for ninth in service aces (90). She sits just behind McMillen in sets played with 440.

Watts finished the year ranked second in the conference in blocks per set with 0.71. She ranked first in the Panthers' lineup with a total of 89 blocks. For the year, she tallied 201 kills, seven assists and 33 digs. Despite finishing just her second year in a Panther uniform, Watts currently ranks 12th all-time in total blocks with a mark of 160.
