Panthers Win Two Doubles Matches But Fall To Medaille

BRADFORD, Pa. -- In its first Allegheny Mountain Collegiate Conference home match of the season, the University of Pittsburgh at Bradford women's tennis team narrowly fell to Medaille, 5-4, Wednesday night.

The Panthers shined in doubles action, taking two of the three matchups.

The No. 1 doubles team of Alexa Holleran and Ashley Stoltz came away with a tie-breaking win.

In No. 3 doubles, Maya Bingaman and Jessica Jordan came out on top, 8-2.

"Our No. 1 doubles team was patient with lobs, had angled returns and aggressive net coverage." Head Coach Susan Schenfield said. "The No. 3 doubles pair focused on changing the direction of the ball and using the court to their advantage."

In singles action, Bingaman picked up a forfeit win and Stoltz improved to 4-0 on the season with her victory in the No. 5 spot tonight.

Jessica Jordan put together a strong competition in the No. 6 spot, pushing the decision to three sets. But she ultimately fell, 10-6, in the third.

The Panthers will play their next match on Saturday as La Roche comes to town for a 12 p.m. start.
