Houghton Bests Panthers in Home Opener

BRADFORD, Pa. – The University of Pittsburgh at Bradford women's tennis team fell to Houghton, 8-1, in its home opener on Monday evening.

"Houghton is a very well-rounded team," Head Coach Susan Schenfield said. "We had better court coverage today and we were hitting some winners from both sides of the court. In a close singles match, Ashley had the complete package -- quick hands, net skills and a good serve."

Ashley Stoltz came away with the lone Panthers victory, earning a win in No. 4 singles, 8-6.

In doubles action, the Panthers saw a close No. 1 match as Stoltz and Alexa Holleran gave their opponents stiff competition but ultimately fell, 8-5.

The Panthers will be in action next on Wednesday as they host Medaille at 6 p.m. for their first home Allegheny Mountain Collegiate Conference match of the season.
