BRADFORD, Pa. - The University of Pittsburgh at Bradford women's tennis team won three matches, but ultimately fell 6-3, to Medaille on Thursday evening at the Kessel Athletic Complex.
Emily Fowkes was dominant for the Panthers, winning 6-0, 6-3 at second singles.
"Emily has a different kind of spin than most lefties and she knows how to play the game," said Pitt-Bradford women's tennis coach Susan Schenfield. "She has been playing more high-percentage shots and it really paid off for her tonight."
Amy Thomas picked up a 6-2, 3-6, 10-2 victory at fourth singles.
"Amy has always been a great third set player and tonight she came out a winner," Schenfield said. "She controlled the forecourt with her smooth and natural style."
Kayla Kerner picked up her first collegiate victory with a 6-4, 6-4 victory at sixth singles.
"It was nice to see Kayla win her match," Schenfield said. "She has been working so hard all season and tonight she was hitting her forehands with consistency and depth."
The Panthers waste no time returning to action, as they host Fredonia Friday at 4 p.m. at the Kessel Athletic Complex.
"As a team, we just weren't very strong during some important points," Schenfield said. "We need to continue to tighten the screws on our mental game in order to be successful."
