LaRoche Tops Panthers, 7-2

BRADFORD, Pa. – The University of Pittsburgh at Bradford women's tennis team finished the opening weekend of AMCC play with a 7-2 loss to LaRoche on Sunday afternoon.

Alexa Holleran won at first singles, and Emily Fowkes added a victory at second singles in the Panther's loss to the Red Hawks.

"Movement was the cornerstone of Alexa's success," said head coach Susan Schenfield. "She blanketed the court and backed it up with her consistent baseline game and finished off her points in the midcourt.

Schenfield was also impressed with Fowkes play at second singles.

"Emily won a third set tiebreaker by hitting the ball deep down the line," Schenfield said. "Her decisions depended on her strength and position in the court.

The Panthers return to action Sunday at Penn State Altoona.

"Overall we competed in a positive way," Schenfield said. "We didn't beat ourselves up when the slightest things went wrong."
