Bradford, Pa. -- The University of Pittsburgh at Bradford wrestling team member D.J. Slovick picked up AMCC Wrestler of the Week honors on Monday after posting a 5-1 record with a 3rd place finish at the Jamestown Open.
Slovick began his week at a dual match with St. John Fisher, where he picked up the Panthers' only win, a 4-1 decision victory. Over the weekend, he finished third at the Jamestown Open in the 174 lb. weight class. He won 4 of 5 bouts at the event, with his only loss coming to a wrestler from Division I Buffalo. Slovick pinned his first two opponents in the Championship Bracket, winning his opener in 1:12 and the second in 2:30. After falling in the championship semifinal, he won the consolation semi with a 43-second pin. In his placement match, Slovick pinned his opponent once again, finishing in 1:09.
He is the second Panther to earn AMCC Wrestler of the Week honors this season after Gavin Thompson won the award in November. He had previously won the award in 2022.
