Bradford, Pa. -- The University of Pittsburgh at Bradford Wrestling team had two grapplers recognized by the AMCC on Wednesday as juniors Cameron Carter-Green and D.J. Slovick were named 2nd Team All-Conference performers.
Both wrestlers' all-conference positions were determined by their performances at the AMCC Championship meet on Saturday, Feb. 15th.
Carter-Green, a junior from Washington, PA. was the runner-up finisher in the 285 lb. weight class. After receiving an opening-round bye, he secured his all-conference honor with a late takedown in the semifinal, winning by a 7-5 decision. Unfortunately, he was injured in the match and was unable to wrestle in the final, moving him to the 2nd team. For the season, Carter-Green posted a 16-8 record, winning 66% of his matches. He tallied 7 pins, 2 major decisions, and 1 tech fall. This was his second All-AMCC selection, as he made the first team in 2022-23 as a freshman.
Slovick, also a junior from Burgettstown, PA. finished second at 174. He also received a first-round bye as the conference's top-seeded qualifier in his class and made the final with an 8-4 win by decision. In the final, he hung around with the eventual championship, but eventually fell 8-1. On the year he went 26-9, a 76.5% win percentage. He totaled 15 pins, 1 major decision, and 2 tech falls. This is his third All-AMCC selection in three seasons. He was a 1st team honoree in 2023-24, and a 2nd team selection in 2023-24, both at 165.
While the conference season is complete, the Panthers have not finished the year, as they will be back in action this weekend. They will travel to Lycoming to compete in the NCAA Region 2 National Qualifying meet on Saturday and Sunday, March 1st & 2nd.
