Panthers Drop Final Dual at St. John Fisher

Rochester, N.Y. -- The University of Pittsburgh at Bradford wrestling team competed in their final dual match of the season on Wednesday, losing to St. John Fisher 43-3.

The Panthers battled early, going the distance in three of four bouts. Cael Dailey started things with a tough 3-0 loss by decision at 123 before Cade Stern was pinned at 133. Dylan Slovick dropped his match at 141 by a 13-1 major decision and then Nikolas Fegert limited the Cardinals to the minimum with a 7-1 decision defeat. The hosts secured the match win with 11 points at 157 and 165, before the Panthers broke the shutout.

At 174, junior D.J. Slovick took care of Pitt-Bradford's only win taking a 5-1 decision. After a scoreless first period, Slovick broke the ice by escaping out of the bottom position, and then registering a takedown to go ahead 4-0. His opponent was able to return the match to a neutral position during the period to head to the 3rd with Dlovick ahead 4-1. In the final period of the bout, Slovick kept his opponent from escaping and earned a final riding time point to finish ahead 5-1.  St. John Fisher continued to dominate the match after Slovick's win, closing the match with a pin at 184 and two tech falls at 197 and 285.

The Panthers finish their dual schedule with a 6-10 record. They will wrap up the season with two more tournaments, before heading to Erie for the AMCC Championships. They will return to the mat this Sunday, wrestling as individuals at the Jamestown Open. Wrestling begins at 9:30 a.m. at Jamestown Community College's Physical Education Complex.
